A day in the life of a Principal Engineer

• Serve as a strong technical voice in architectural discussions, contributing experience-driven insights and hands-on support to technical decision-making

• Collaborate closely with senior engineers, product, and business stakeholders to ensure scalable and maintainable solutions.

• Act as an individual contributor when needed to build critical components, unblock teams, and prototype new approaches.

• Lead initiatives for improving system performance, observability, reliability, and security.

• Foster a culture of automation, CI/CD best practices, and cloud operational excellence.

• Mentor senior and staff engineers to grow their technical and leadership skills.

• Promote best practices in engineering execution, code quality, and continuous improvement.

• Champion Agile methodologies and high-trust, high-collaboration working models.

• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and architectural patterns relevant to SaaS scalability and performance.

• Encourage exploration of AI-based development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to enhance productivity.

• Communicate complex technical topics clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

• Build strong partnerships across engineering, product, operations, and leadership teams.

Are you the new Principal Engineer at Lansweeper?

I am someone who

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, including leadership roles.

• Deep hands-on experience in SaaS environments and cloud platforms (AWS preferred).

• Strong technical breadth across backend systems, APIs, databases, DevOps, and architecture.

• Proven ability to mentor, influence, and inspire technical teams.

• Fluent in English, written and spoken.

• Strong expertise in backend technologies such as Node.js, TypeScript, and .NET Core.

• Solid working knowledge of frontend technologies, particularly React, to support end-to-end architectural discussions and unblock frontend teams when needed.

• Good understanding of GoLang and Rust or willingness to deepen expertise as part of our evolving technology landscape.

• Solid experience with common database technologies like MongoDB and PostgreSQL. Familiarity with ClickHouse or a willingness to learn it is considered a strong plus.

• Broad experience in cloud-native architectures, preferably on AWS, with solid knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and DevOps practices.
