Context & Impact

We're looking for a Principal Software Engineer to operate at the intersection of deep technical expertise and cross-functional leadership. This is not a people management role. It's for someone who has spent 10+ years building real intuition for how complex systems work — and who can now translate that into architectural direction, fast decisions, and meaningful influence across the organization.

You'll be a reference point for the team: someone engineers come to when they're stuck, someone who can engage with product and infrastructure discussions without needing to be briefed from scratch, and someone who is genuinely excited about where AI is taking the craft.

AI Fluency

At Lansweeper, we are building an AI-native engineering culture. We expect all engineers to actively use AI tools to enhance productivity and quality across the software development lifecycle, including coding, testing, documentation, and system design. Candidates should be comfortable working with AI-assisted workflows and continuously evolving their approach as tools and practices advance.

• Driving architectural clarity across a distributed systems platform built in Go and Rust

• Balancing speed, quality, and long-term maintainability in an AI-augmented development environment

• Influencing technical direction across teams without formal authority

Team Info

You will join an enthusiastic team of 40 engineers based in Spain (global engineering team is 120 people).

What you'll do

• Set architectural direction for key areas of the Lansweeper platform

• Act as a technical reference across engineering — and beyond, when needed

• Engage with product, infrastructure, and business stakeholders to shape what gets built and how

• Drive adoption of AI-native ways of working across the team

• Mentor senior engineers and raise the technical bar across the organization

• Identify and close gaps before they become problems

• Collaborate with engineers across Alicante and internationally

What we're looking for (Key Requirements)

Hard Skills

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a clear trajectory toward architecture and technical leadership

• Strong experience building distributed systems in Go and/or Rust in production environments

• Primary languages: Go and/or Rust (required)

• Deep understanding of data modeling, APIs, and service-oriented architectures

• Experience designing reliable and scalable systems in production

• Hands-on expertise running services on Kubernetes with GitHub-based CI/CD

• Strong experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB

• Practical experience using AI tools for coding, refactoring, testing, and documentation

• Demonstrated experience influencing technical direction across teams

Soft Skills

• Have opinions, communicate them clearly, and build alignment without a formal mandate

• Curious, self-directed, and passionate about building things inside and outside of work

• Learn new tools and technologies quickly

• Think in systems rather than isolated components

• Prefer simple solutions over unnecessary complexity

• Operate with a high degree of autonomy, especially when requirements are vague or evolving

AI Specific Skills

Lansweeper is an AI-native company. In this role, you are expected to actively use AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, code assistants, and agent-based workflows as part of your daily engineering practice. You should be comfortable guiding AI tools, validating outputs, and integrating AI into engineering workflows to improve speed and quality while maintaining production-grade standards.

• Each level maps to a salary band based on salary benchmarks from the Software/SaaS industry of your country, so your pay reflects what the market pays for comparable roles.

• The gross salary range for this role is €60,368 – €98,099 (EUR) (Spain) (based on full-time employment).

• Where you land within that range depends on the expertise you bring, the complexity you have navigated, the scope of impact you have owned, and your track record of delivering results in comparable roles — the same criteria applied consistently to every candidate.
